Safeguarding Statement
At Stay, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive and respectful environment for everyone who comes into contact with our organisation.
Many of the people we support may be experiencing homelessness, housing difficulties or other circumstances that can make them more vulnerable. We are committed to treating everyone with dignity, respect and compassion, and to ensuring that any safeguarding concerns are identified and acted upon appropriately.
We believe that every child, young person and adult has the right to be safe and protected from abuse, harm, neglect, exploitation and discrimination. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we take any concerns about a person’s safety or wellbeing seriously.
Safeguarding concerns may include:
- Physical, emotional or sexual abuse
- Neglect or self-neglect
- Domestic abuse
- Financial abuse
- Criminal or sexual exploitation
- Bullying, harassment or discrimination
- Situations where someone is unable to protect themselves from harm
We are committed to:
- Promoting the welfare and wellbeing of the people we support.
- Providing safeguarding training for our staff, volunteers and trustees.
- Recruiting safely and carrying out appropriate checks where required.
- Responding promptly and appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
- Working with local authorities, statutory agencies and partner organisations to help keep people safe.
- Reviewing our safeguarding policies and procedures regularly to ensure they remain effective and up to date.
We follow our safeguarding policies and work in line with national guidance and local safeguarding procedures. Where safeguarding concerns are identified, we will take appropriate action, including sharing information and making referrals to local authority safeguarding teams, the police or other agencies where necessary to help protect people from harm.
